Blog: Tech Week 2020: New Zealand’s digital future in the APEC region
The Asia-Pacific is the destination for three-quarters of New Zealand’s exports, and includes many of our key trading partners. More broadly, the APEC region is a major engine for global economic growth. What is New Zealand’s digital future in this dynamic region?
In this webinar, held during Tech Week 2020, Toni Moyes of insurtech firm Montoux and one of the three New Zealand members of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), highlights the opportunities and points of friction in the region for New Zealand’s digital businesses. She talks about the initiatives and ideas that ABAC is developing to help ensure a thriving Asia-Pacific digital economy, including around artificial intelligence, cross-border data flows, e-commerce, fintech, cybersecurity, sustainability and digital inclusion. Toni is then joined in a panel discussion by Mitchell Pham, Chair of the Digital Council of Aotearoa New Zealand, and Mark Talbot, New Zealand’s Senior Official for APEC, moderated by ABAC policy advisor Stephanie Honey.
